The Legacy We Leave
As time passes and the remnants of our lives begin to pile up the Legacy of a disposable mentality has broken through the white picket fences and neat brick walls to reveal that we as a society are swimming both literally and figuratively in our own “trash”. The pursuit of accumulating more belongings, the newest edition, faster technology and the quest for convenience appears to be some of the reasons we throw out perfectly good ‘belongings’ and buy more and more ‘things’. We are leaving a legacy that hides the trash and problems associated with a disposable lifestyle. We throw items in trashcans and dumpsters and they magically disappear until there is no more room for all that trash to be hidden. Our “trash” is now encroaching on the human environment and the animal habitats forcing us to face the mounting Legacy We Are Leaving.
